Treasure Hunt
What is it for?
Treasure Hunt is a game that gives your guests scored tasks and encourages them to spend more time at your venue and share on social media. A guest signs in with the code you give them, completes tasks (for example "Try the dessert of the day") and sends a photo or text as proof. Points are added when you approve the submission on the Approval Board. A guest who reaches a point threshold wins the reward automatically.
The screen subtitle sums it up: "Scored tasks, code based entry and an approval board."
How do I open this screen? In the left menu go to Bumerang → Business → Treasure Hunt. If it is not in the menu, see "Before you start" below.
When to use it
- When you want to give teams tasks during a contest, boat tour, camp or company event.
- When you want restaurant guests to try new items and post on social media.
- When you want to hand out a loyalty reward such as "20% off after 100 points".
- When you want to measure, with a report, how often each task is completed.
Before you start
- Your device needs a Bumerang (marketing) licence. Without it the page sends you back to the Bumerang screen.
- The module appears on the Business Modules card of Settings → Module Permissions. If you have never created a treasure hunt, the row shows Not set up · Set up; the Set up link brings you to this screen. The Treasure Hunt link in the left menu only appears when a treasure hunt is set up and switched on.
- While the switch is on, the module works both in the panel and on the guest page. If you switch it off, it leaves the menu and the guest page goes offline.
- If your sub-users should see this screen, tick the Treasure Hunt box on their user card on the same page.
Step by step: your first treasure hunt
- On the Treasure Hunt screen, press New Treasure Hunt at the top right.
- In the Treasure Hunt Studio that opens, type the hunt name into the first box on the right (the box is labelled Event Name * on screen; it is the only required field). Example:
Taste Hunt. Then press Save at the top right. After saving you stay on the studio screen and "Saved." appears at the top.
For page design details see Treasure Hunt Studio. - Add tasks: press Tasks on the card in the list, type the task name into Task and its points into Points, choose the Proof type and press Add. Repeat for each task.
- Add participant codes: press Participants on the card. The easiest way is to type a number into How many participants? and press Generate codes. To add people one by one, use the form at the top and press Add.
Important: without codes nobody can sign in. Guests cannot register themselves. - Optionally define a reward: press Rewards on the card, type the reward name and the number of points needed, then press Add.
- Get the codes to the participants: press QR cards on the card and use Print, or use the SMS / WhatsApp buttons in the Participants table.
- Publish the hunt: a new treasure hunt starts with a grey Draft badge and guests cannot submit tasks. Go back to the list and press the power button (⏻) under the card; the badge turns green Published and "Published." appears.
- When a guest scans the QR on their card, or opens
menu.useroam.com/oa/...and types their code, they see the tasks. Every submitted task lands on the Approval Board; approve it there. Details: Treasure Hunt Approval Board.
List screen and card buttons
Each treasure hunt is listed as a card showing its name, guest address (menu.useroam.com/oa/<code>), number of active tasks, number of participants, and a yellow pending badge when submissions are waiting for approval.
| Button / badge | What it does |
|---|---|

Empty state: with no treasure hunt you see the heading "No treasure hunt yet", the text "Score the tasks, upload participant codes, approve submissions from the board." and the New Treasure Hunt button.
Tasks panel
The new task form is at the top and the existing tasks table below it. Each row can be edited in place; confirm with the row's Save button.
| Field | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Task | Task name shown to the guest. Required. If empty: "Task title is required." | Try the dessert of the day |
| Description | Short explanation (optional). | Take a photo with the dessert |
| Points | Points earned on approval (0 to 9999). Default 10. | 20 |
| Proof | What the guest sends: Photo, Video, Photo or video, Text or No proof (saying "done" is enough). | Photo |
| Required | When ticked, the guest cannot submit without proof. | ticked |
| Repeatable | When ticked, the same guest can submit the task several times and earn points each time. Otherwise it can be done once. | not ticked |
| Status switch | When off, the task is hidden from guests, the row turns grey and gets a Draft badge in the report. | on |
| Bin | Removes the task. Past submissions and points already earned are kept. |
With no tasks the table shows "No tasks added yet." After adding you see "Task added.", after editing "Saved.". Press Back to list to close the panel.
Note: if you later change a task's points, already approved submissions keep their points; the new value only applies to future approvals.
Participants panel
The note at the top reads: "Participants can only sign in with the codes listed here; they cannot register themselves. The code is what the guest types: boat number, table number, team name..." There are three ways to add participants:
1. Add a single participant
| Field | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Code | The code the guest types. "Leave blank to generate automatically". "Code must be at least 4 characters. Leave blank and a unique code is generated." A shorter code is rejected so it cannot be guessed. If the code exists: "This code is already on the list." | M042 or blank |
| Name / Team (optional) | The participant's or team's name. Can be edited later in the table. | Blue Team |
| Mobile number (optional) | "If entered, the participant receives their code and personal link by SMS." Enter 10 digits without a leading 0. | 5321234567 |
| Add | Adds the participant: "Participant added." With a number you also see "Code sent by SMS." If the number is not 10 digits the participant is still added, with the warning "The number must be 10 digits (5xxxxxxxxx); no SMS was sent." |
2. Generate codes automatically (recommended)
Type a number (1 to 500) into How many participants? and press Generate codes. The note says: "The safest option: unguessable 6-character codes with no confusing letters (e.g. K7M4QX). Read them from the list and hand them out." The result tells you how many codes were generated.
3. Paste a whole list
Click Many participants? Paste the whole list at once. Paste the codes into the box (it shows the example "42, 43, 128 ... or one code per line") and press Add codes. The note under the box: "Write one code per line (or paste the Excel column). You can add the names later from the table." The message tells you how many codes were added and how many already existed (those are skipped).
Participants table
The box above the table explains the send buttons: Send by SMS sends the participant their code and personal link as text; Send by WhatsApp sends the same code and link as a WhatsApp message, and it goes out the moment you press the button. The third note: "A QR image cannot be attached to the message, and it is not needed: the participant QR code already carries this same link, so we send the link itself. For printed QR cards:" followed by the Participant QR cards link.
| Column / button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Code | The participant's sign-in code. |
| Name / Team | Type in the box and press the tick (✓) next to it to save. |
| Phone | Type the number and save with ✓. Saving an empty box deletes the number. Without a number, red "Enter a number first" appears below; after sending you see "Last sent: 25.09 14:30". |
| Points | Points collected from approved tasks. |
| Submissions | Number of tasks the participant submitted (pending, approved and rejected). |
| Status | Green Active or grey Blocked. A blocked participant cannot sign in with their code and cannot win point threshold rewards. |
| Outgoing arrow | Opens the participant's personal page in a new tab (you appear signed in as that participant; use it for testing). |
| SMS | Sends the code and personal link by SMS: "Code sent by SMS." Greyed out when there is no number. |
| WhatsApp icon | Sends the same by WhatsApp immediately: "WhatsApp message sent." |
| Power button (⏻) | Switches the participant between Active and Blocked. |
| Bin | Deletes the participant, their submissions and rewards won. Cannot be undone. |
With no participants you see "No participant codes yet." If old codes are shorter than 4 characters, a yellow warning says they can be guessed, that they keep working, and that you should generate codes for new participants.
QR cards
The page is titled Reward Hunt QR Cards: "Print the participant cards. Scanning the QR signs the participant in automatically." Pick the hunt in the Reward hunt box; the number of cards is shown next to it. Print prints three columns per A4 page (menus and titles are hidden in print). Each card shows the REWARD HUNT heading, the hunt name, the QR code, the participant name, the code and the note "Kamera çalışmazsa bu kodu girin." / "If the camera does not work, enter this code."
- With no treasure hunt: "There is no reward hunt for this device yet." and a Create a reward hunt link.
- With no participants: "This reward hunt has no participants. Cards cannot be printed without participants." and an Add participants link.
Careful: the QR carries the personal link; whoever scans it signs in as that participant. Give each card only to its owner.
Rewards panel
The note on screen: "A participant who reaches the point threshold wins the reward automatically. Rank rewards are handed out with the button below when the hunt ends."
| Field | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Reward | Reward name. Required; if empty: "Reward name is required." | Captain's Coffee |
| Description (optional) | Short note shown to the guest. | Show at the counter |
| Winning condition | Point threshold: everyone reaching the points wins, automatically at approval. Rank: the top N win at the end of the hunt, handed out manually. | Point threshold |
| At how many points | Shown when Point threshold is selected. | 100 |
| Top how many | Shown when Rank is selected. | 3 |
| Menu discount (optional) | None, Percent (%) or Amount and its value. Note: "If you set a menu discount, the participant reaches the QR menu from the reward card and the discount is applied to prices. It stays valid until you mark it as handed over." | Percent, 20 |
Without a number for the condition you see "Enter a number for the winning condition." After adding: "Reward added." The table shows each reward's Winners count, a Status switch, Save and a delete button. With no rewards: "No rewards defined yet."
Winners and handover
- The Winners table: Code, Name / Team, Reward, Points at the time of winning and Handover status (yellow Pending or the green handover date). With no winners: "Nobody has won a reward yet."
- When you give the reward to the guest, press Handed over on the row: "Marked as handed over." Any menu discount ends at that moment.
- When a rank reward exists, the End the hunt, hand out rank rewards button appears. Note: "Ranking changes during the hunt; this button freezes the current leaderboard and hands out the rewards. A granted reward is never revoked." Confirmation: "Rank rewards will be handed out based on the current leaderboard. Continue?" The result tells you how many rewards were handed out.
Note: a reward already won is not taken back even if a submission is later rejected and points drop (the guest may already have received it).
Report
- Counters at the top: Participants, With points, Submissions, Pending and Points granted. With pending items an Approval Board (4) button appears.
- Per task tracking table: Task, Points, Submissions, Pending, Approved, Rejected, Completed by (number of different people approved), Points granted and thumbnails of the last 4 Proof items (click to enlarge). Switched-off tasks are grey with a Draft badge.
- Ranking table: the top 20 participants by points. If nobody has points: "No participant has points yet."

Frequently asked questions
Can a guest register on their own?
No. Only the codes you add can sign in. This stops strangers from collecting points.
A guest submitted a task but their points did not increase.
Points are only added when the submission is approved on the Approval Board. Look for the yellow pending badge on the card.
A guest says "I cannot submit a task".
Check: is the hunt Published, has the start time (Date & Time in the studio) arrived, has the End date passed, is the participant Blocked, or is the task not repeatable and already submitted.
Can I use the same code in two different hunts?
Yes. Codes are kept separately for each treasure hunt.
Why does the SMS have no Turkish characters?
The SMS text is deliberately sent without Turkish characters so it fits into a single SMS and does not use two credits.
Why does the QR page say "Reward Hunt" instead of "Treasure Hunt"?
It is the same module; the English panel uses two names for it.
